TSMC decides to open “Semiconductor Program” at 6 universities in Taiwan

Recently, according to Taiwan media reports, in order to cultivate advanced process talents, TSMC will open the “TSMC semiconductor Course” in 6 universities in Taiwan, and provide students with the opportunity to enter TSMC for internships and post-graduation interviews.

It is reported that TSMC conducted its first “TSMC Semiconductor Program” at Tsinghua University in Taiwan last year, and this year it will further expand to 5 Taiwanese universities including National Taiwan University.

TSMC said that the scope of the “TSMC Semiconductor Course” is jointly planned by experts in various fields within the company and professors from partner schools to establish “component/integration courses”, “process/module courses” and “equipment engineering courses”. 3 major frameworks, each program covers 20 to 40 subject courses, covering the core knowledge and abilities required by students.

Among them, the “component/integration course” covers the fields of component development, advanced process integration and material analysis technology. In addition to emphasizing practical courses, it also introduces TSMC’s 5nm and 3nm process extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography technology and other related fields course.

The “Process/Module Learning” course is based on the material knowledge domain and incorporates the application of basic principles such as physics/chemical reactions, electronics, and mechanics.

TSMC will launch the “Device Engineering Program” in 4 universities including National Chiao Tung University, National Cheng Kung University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and Taipei University of Science and Technology in September this year, focusing on the key skills of semiconductor manufacturing, the basic skills of advanced equipment technology and the basic skills of advanced equipment technology. The three major courses of advanced equipment technology and advanced learning ability will be taught by the director of TSMC’s equipment engineering organization, so as to reduce the gap between production and education, and cultivate the equipment talents required for high-level processes.
