Beijing News (Reporter Lu Yifu) On May 15, HUAWEI CLOUD released its government-enterprise strategy and announced the official launch of the new HUAWEI CLOUD Stack series. Zheng Yelai, President of HUAWEI CLOUD Business, introduced that HUAWEI CLOUD Stack is a cloud infrastructure located in the local data center of government and enterprise customers.
Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, markets such as telecommuting, telemedicine, and online education have seen substantial growth since the Spring Festival this year, driving a sharp increase in the demand for cloud computing services. Zheng Yelai said that in the first quarter of this year, the usage of Huawei Cloud AI development platform ModelArts increased by 133 times, and services such as cloud hosting and CDN are also growing explosively.
He believes that the current digital upgrade of government and enterprises is mainly faced with four problems, including the lack of traditional IT services and slow updates, how to obtain cloud service capabilities and innovation faster, and how to break the closure and obtain more open ecological applications. To this end, the HUAWEI CLOUD Stack series will meet the digital transformation needs of government and enterprise customers through four differentiating advantages: collaboration, unification, serialization, and security.
It is also entering the cloud computing market. Huawei’s original advantage is the private cloud. However, due to the limited market size of the private cloud, cloud computing vendors will eventually develop towards the public cloud. Therefore, in March 2017, Huawei announced the establishment of an independent cloud department, Cloud BU, to vigorously develop the public cloud market.
According to Gartner’s latest research report “Market Share: IT Services, Worldwide 2019”, Huawei Cloud ranks third in China’s IaaS market and sixth in the world, with a growth rate of 222.2%. In addition, Huawei’s 2019 annual report disclosed that Huawei Cloud has more than 3 million enterprises and developers based on Huawei Cloud for cloud development.
Zheng Yelai said that there have been new changes in the cloud service market in the past two years. In the past, the services required by customers were stable and delivered in software packages. However, with the acceleration of the digitalization process, new technologies emerged one after another, especially the mobile Internet. With the coming changes in artificial intelligence and big data, customers need many features. It is difficult for HUAWEI CLOUD to use a software package to deliver it to customers stably, and it is only upgraded once a year.
“In the past two years, our private cloud team has also tried to do more, but finally found that the ideal state cannot actually be achieved.” Zheng Yelai believes that going down that road is very important to customers and HUAWEI CLOUD. The pain, in the end, is that Huawei Cloud cannot meet the needs of customers. “It should be said that this is a process of quickly reaching a consensus in the first half of this year.”
Therefore, HUAWEI CLOUD is more inclined to build an ecosystem and hand over personalized customization needs to partners. At the press conference, Xiao Yi, CTO of Huawei China Cloud and Computing, released the HUAWEI CLOUD Marketplace Hybrid Cloud Partner Program, inviting partners to settle in the HUAWEI CLOUD Marketplace Hybrid Cloud Zone. She introduced that currently more than 40 partners have settled in the Hybrid Cloud Zone of HUAWEI CLOUD Marketplace, including iSoftStone, Chinasoft International, Cathay Pacific New Point, Tianwen Digital Media, Auger, UFIDA, Kingdee, Fanwei, Coremail and other domestic software manufacturers , more than 200 partner products have passed the technical certification of hybrid cloud.
Regarding the rumors that HUAWEI CLOUD will abandon the private cloud and close the Gaussian database, Zheng Yelai clarified that HUAWEI CLOUD is not closing the private cloud and Gaussian database business, but is making future-oriented team adjustments. He said that the database has a strong coupling relationship with the application ecology of HUAWEI CLOUD, and HUAWEI CLOUD should give up this part of the interests, “but for the normal and healthy development of the ecology, we continue to increase investment in this area and contribute it. Huawei itself will open source the Gaussian database this year, and open up this part of its capabilities in the form of cloud services.”
Recently, the competition in the domestic cloud computing market has intensified, and second-tier cloud service manufacturers have taken the lead in listing, and have been favored by the capital market. The stock price of Kingsoft Cloud has risen rapidly since its listing on Nasdaq earlier, and it has risen by more than 30% since its listing. Lei Jun said in an interview with the media that the domestic cloud service market has initially stabilized. Everyone in the field has entered the field, and there are not many manufacturers left at the poker table.”
